At Doscher's, we were destined to make candy canes for Christmas. We were founded by a guy named Claus.

In 1871, Claus Doscher started making candy at his store in downtown Cincinnati. One of the first candies produced by Claus was Peppermint Candy Canes. Everything was done by hand; from folding the hot candy mass into shape, rolling the layers of red and white into each other, twisting the hooks, and even hand wrapping each cane into cellophane wrappers. Over 130 years later, we still use the same careful craftsmanship perfected by Claus to make each batch of candy canes. Our cane making process delivers our signature crunchy-chewy texture to keep your cane lasting a little longer.
